The Devil in I
.5: The Gray Chapter
September was a busy month for metalheads, with new albums/tracks/videos coming out from the likes of In This Moment, Butcher Babies, Crucified Barbara, Motionless in White, Opeth, Hurtsmile, The Contortionist, Exodus, Cannibal Corpse, Steel Panther (with assists from Rob Riggle and Lil’ Jon), Decapitated, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, and Mastodon, news about GWAR’s new singer (or singers, it’s not clear yet), live DVDs/Blu-Rays from Anthrax, Meshuggah, Sepultura, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Stryper, a couple of leaked Machine Head songs, Jason Newstead quitting all the social networks, Andrew W.K. stepping up to defend metal from controlling girlfriend dumbfuckery, the awesome discovery that Amy Poehler is a metalhead and Magneto loves metal, and the sad news that AC/DC’s Malcolm Young is suffering from dementia.
But the biggest happening of the month was undoubtedly the debut of Slipknot’s new masks. Whether it’s the most important news of September depends on your opinion of Slipknot. Here’s the video for The Devil in I, where the masks debuted:

New masks of course means a new album; .5: The Gray Chapter hits stores October 28th.
